Moosehide is both incredibly rugged yet wonderfully soft. The insoles are made of moosehide layered atop a cushion of dense foam and the tread blocks of the soles are made of a squishy soft rubber providing traction, pedal grip (they *are* driving mocs) and cushioning. While the sole will last longer than the classic knobby style, it will still wear relatively fast; the tread will be gone long before the leather wears out.

The first time you slip them on you'll be grinning. These aren't glorified bedroom slippers; you can wear these in the great outdoors all day ...in comfort.

The big caveat with these moccasins is *not* having any special foot support problems ....while these mocs are the epitome of comfort, they offer little in the way of arch or ankle support.

Sizing is always a question and it depends; it depends on how you'll want to wear these mocs ....with or without socks. If you wear a whole size I would go with that; they are pretty spot on. If you wear a half-size then I would go down a half-size (wear a 9.5, get a 9.0), especially if you want to go sockless. I wear a mens 8.5/9.0 and ordered the 8.0's ...they fit perfectly without socks and on those occasions where I wear socks, I wear thin socks. If you plan to always wear thick socks, then go up the half-size ...just realize they will be kinda floppy/loose if you decide you like the sockless feel.

These mocs stretch and conform to your feet very quickly (there's almost no "break-in" period for them) so you don't want to get them too big to begin with ...otherwise they'll get floppy on your feet ...you want them to stay a little snug. Just realize that with an all leather, soft moccasin you don't want a lot of toe room; you don't need it. There is also no width sizing other than "D" or medium width. While the leather will stretch to some degree, if you have exceptionally wide feet these may not be the ticket for you.

With the few exceptions and the right sizing strategy, these really are about the softest pair of footwear you'll ever sink you feet into.
